Fernwood 1

Fernwood 1 is a compact modern home designed on a north-facing site above Knysna. As such, this beautiful home enjoys expansive views across the Knysna Basin and Lagoon. The site allowed us to explore a layout where all the main living spaces benefit from these views.

We incorporated generous glazing together with concrete elements that provide necessary shading, ensuring comfort while maintaining openness. As a result, the building form remains clean, and the architectural language feels current and well balanced.

Fernwood 1 makes the most of the site’s natural advantages, resulting in a home that is both practical and cost-effective while maintaining a strong, modern aesthetic.
